WORK EXPERIENCE- KATIE ANN MCGUIGAN

July 2018 - May 2019.

Katie Ann McGuigan is a London based womenswear brand with ready-to-wear defined by innovative print design with a modern and graphic silhouette.

Katie Ann McGuigan was born and raised in Ireland. She moved to London, where she graduated from the University of Westminster BA Fashion Design Womenswear course in Spring 2016. Awarded the Fashion Scout Merit Award after her first print heavy collection debut, McGuigan went on to win the Mittlemoda Absolute Prize in 2017. She gained experience working for McQ in London and Marc Jacobs in New York City. http://katieannmcguigan.com

I started to work for the Katie Ann McGuigan Studio in July 2018 as a Graduate Intern for SS19. I was promoted to Junior Designer and Pattern Drafter in October 2019 for AW19.

My role varied each day- designing, pattern drafting garments, sewing mock-ups, sewing final garments, print placements, pattern placements, cutting final fabrics,  design research and CAD/Tech drawings.

My role also included- helping to organise London Fashion Week presentation for Katie Ann McGuigan both SS19 and AW19. Organised Paris Showrooms and the transfer of the collection. Involved and organised the photoshoots for SS19 and AW19. Boxing up and packaging deliveries and emails between production, shops, sales teams and marketing teams.

AW19 see’s McGuigan once again translating the codes of conventionally ‘masculine’ sports into a collection that’s innately feminine, the collection is inspired by the fierce and vibrant Bosozuku girl gangs of Japan.

SS19 see's McGuigan use a mix of feminine and sport vibes, heavy leather jackets with light silk satin materials. Garments support the GOAL logo and printed fabrics.
